Local Features and Feature Matching
Derives corner detection from the windowed SSD through the structure tensor and its eigenvalues to Harris and Shi-Tomasi, covers scale-space detectors (FAST, DoG/SIFT, SURF) and their repeatability and invariance, then builds SIFT, ORB, and HOG descriptors with the distances, ratio and cross-check tests, and failure analysis that make matching robust. Quiz 1 falls in this module.
Lectures in this Module(3)
Corners and the Structure Tensor
From a windowed SSD to the second-moment matrix, its eigenvalues, and the Harris and Shi-Tomasi responses.
Scale-Space and Feature Detectors
FAST, difference-of-Gaussian, and their relatives, judged by repeatability and invariance.
Descriptors and Matching
SIFT, ORB, and HOG descriptors, the distances that compare them, and the tests that filter matches. Quiz 1 this session.
